Carlo Salvioli (Venezia, 11 novembre 1848 – Mirano, 29 gennaio 1930) è stato uno scacchista e notaio italiano.Pur essendo stato anche un forte giocatore (vinse nel 1881 il torneo nazionale di Milano, diventando praticamente campione italiano) è noto principalmente come autore dell'opera "Teoria e pratica del giuoco degli scacchi", il cui primo volume fu pubblicato a Venezia dalla tipografia Ferrari nel 1885. È stato il primo libro italiano con una trattazione sistematica delle aperture e delle altre fasi della partita. Ebbe larga diffusione e vari ampliamenti e riedizioni. Salvioli fu anche un compositore di studi di prim'ordine. Pubblicò circa 60 studi molti dei quali ricevettero vari riconoscimenti. Salvioli fu appassionato di musica classica, un valente pianista nonchè filantropo (egli lasciò tutto il suo patrimonio all'allora Congregazione di carità da cui è poi sorto l'ospedale di Mirano). See Chicco/Sanvito Outlines of a bible. Italian chess, 762. Carlo Salvioli (Venice, 11 November 1848 – Mirano, 29 January 1930) was an Italian chess player and notary. Although he was also a strong player (he won the national tournament in Milan in 1881, practically becoming Italian champion ) is known mainly as the author of the work "Theory and practice of the game of chess", the first volume of which was published in Venice by the Ferrari typography in 1885. It was the first Italian book with a systematic treatment of the openings and other phases of match. It was widely distributed and had various expansions and re-editions. Salvioli was also a composer of studies of the first order. He published around 60 studies, many of which received various awards. Salvioli was passionate about classical music, a talented pianist as well as a philanthropist (he left all his assets to the then Congregation of Charity from which the Mirano hospital later arose). The "Carlo Salvioli Chess Club" of Venice, founded in 1920, is dedicated to his memory.
